Do it as much as you can, as often as you can. Whether it’s for a week or a year, book the flight and just leave. At the end of your life are you really going to die smiling because you’ve the extra money in your bank account from all the trips you didn’t take? Or are you going to be happy for all the time you’ve spent exploring the world, meeting people, making interesting and exciting memories?
Don’t wait for the perfect time, that doesn’t exist. You have to just do it. You can always make some excuse, waiting on a promotion at work, just got into a relationship, it will never be the ‘right time” if that’s the mentality you have. You have to make it the right time, Just say fuck it and do it. The rest of what you’ve got going on will sort itself out.
I’m 25 and I’ve picked up and left everything behind three times already just because I’m still searching for the place I love enough to stay. And that doesn’t include all the places I’ve been in between, South East Asia, Europe, all over the states. Life is not meant to be lived simply. If all you do is work, stay home during the week and head out during the weekends you’re doing something wrong. What’s the point in waiting until you’re retired or the kids are out of the house? You could die tomorrow. You can’t wait to do all the interesting things in life. You need to do them now, when you’re fully mobile and not worn out by life’s mediocrity.
Take a week or two off, and if you can 6 months or a year and go somewhere you’ve never been. On your own if you have to, you’ll meet plenty of people along the way.
There’s too much of the world there to stay in one place or one country, your whole life.
